Welcome to the 49th Annual Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale Auction held 1/11/2020 – 1/19/2020 at Westworld of Scottsdale. One of my favorite car events held every January in sunny Arizona.  I wanted to meet the women who attend, shop, bid and buy classic cars at the auction. Yes! The women.

I wrote the book “A Woman’s Guide to Buying a Car with Confidence and Street Smartsâ€, “Don’t let these High Heels fool you†to help men and women understand and navigate the buying of a car.  My book was to build confidence in women to purchase a car on their own, you don’t need to bring a man. We know women have tremendous buying power and that 65% of women buy and 85% influence automotive decisions.

Well this also applies to Classic Cars, Motor Yachts and Motorcycles.  Thanks to my reporters and photographers from Arizona Consortium for the Arts… here are some of THE WOMEN that attended Barrett Jackson 2020.

These photos and quotes have been approved by the women for publication.

Heather Kirk, Scottsdale, AZ. “Growing up I was never really into cars. It wasn’t until my first Barrett-Jackson show many years ago that, as a photographic artist, I fell in love with shiny colors and curves, and creative engineering. And most especially the hood ornaments of the classics. I still don’t know a whole lot about cars other than doing enough research to sound good and hold my own when I need a car repair. But when it comes to beauty, I always find it at Barrett-Jackson.â€

Brenda Johnson,  Scottsdale, “My first experience at the Barrett Jackson was exciting! It was a beautiful, sunny day in Scottsdale AZ. I was filled with anticipation as I navigated my way across the parking lot, past groups of other eager visitors. Once you step inside and see all the shiny, gorgeous vehicles, you know you’re somewhere special. The best part though was of course, the auction itself. The excitement in there was palpable and I was able to see any type of vehicle, beautifully restored, that you could imagine, all available to the highest bidder. Outdoors I enjoyed a live band and some yummy food before heading home for the evening. I’ll be back next year for sure! Maybe I’ll even take home a new ride! AZ.â€

Lynn Anderson, Clinton Township, Michigan, writer, Hot VW’s Magazine.  “ This true car gal (as dubbed by Barry Meguiar!) thoroughly enjoyed her first trip to Barrett-Jackson! The caliber of cars was truly exceptional, as were all the people who worked so hard to orchestrate this amazing event! I had a fantastic week, and returned home with a new appreciation of what I see during their live telecasts on TV!â€

I had the chance to experience my first Arizona Auction Week from behind the scenes and it was so exciting! I especially love learning from our marketing manager Rebecca Nguyen, who’s a brilliant woman making waves in the automotive world.”  In the photo, on the right is Rebecca Nguyen, Marketing Manager at classiccars.com.
