From Your Ranch to Rodeo Drive
2020 Hyundai Genesis G90
When you think about a luxury sedan does the Hyundai Genesis come to mind? You probably think of Mercedes Benz, Audi, Lexus, BMW and a few others. If you are able and willing to spend between $70,000 to $110,000 on a sedan, do you say… “I’m going to buy a Genesis?â€Â Well, if it has not been at the top of your luxury shopping list, think again. You are missing out on a luxurious limousine styled sedan and the Genesis Experience.
I test drove the 2020 G90 Genesis RWD 5.0 Ultimate to my friend’s ranch in Cave Creek, Arizona. Despite the sunset, large cactus and some bunnies running by I decided that Rodeo Drive is not the only place you take a $80,000 vehicle. Their horses were already transported up north due to the hot desert climate, but the dirt roads, tack room, ranch house and main house were the best backdrop for such a grand vehicle made by Hyundai. The 2020 Hyundai Genesis, in its second generation, has more bells and whistles than other luxury sedan in its class and they are standard in the Ultimate.
The 2020 G90 is based on the existing platform that has been around since 2017, but the exterior is all new except for the roof and doors and even the car’s proportions have been altered. The goal was to create a lower and broader appearance which was accomplished with wider headlamps and a gigantic crest-shape grille which Genesis refers to as their G-Matrix design which you will see repeated in other parts of the car’s design.  The grille is to reflect the nature of a cut diamond, and mission accomplished.   The rear lights have been changed from a vertical to a horizontal look, stretching the full length of the car.  The rear winged badge has been replaced by an elongated (word) version of Genesis.
The interior is authentic leather and just like a fine leather jacket, the aroma indicates luxury. In fact, the 2020 Genesis has replaced the center console finish (which was black plastic) with leather and open pore ash wood with aluminum accent rim pieces throughout.
The G90 above all else is comfortable. The front seats have been certified by a German authority that suggest sitting in the G90 improves your spinal health, although there is no massage button like other comparable luxury sedans. I am not sure who the German authority is, but I do admit the front seat was much like an expensive leather recliner. Did I mention the quiet and comfortable ride? It is flawless.
The 2020 Genesis stands out on the road and in the showroom. Listed below are a few of its special features, but you must go to www.genesis.com to get the full Monty. If you are looking to test drive this vehicle, check with your local Hyundai dealership. If it is in their inventory, you will notice that the G90 will have its own personal space in the dealership. I believe either on the Ranch or Beverly Hills the value for your dollar in this category cannot be found with similar luxury vehicles.
