Safety… Sonic… So Cool!
There is nothing I love more than hanging out with my grandkids on the weekends! I always try to find fun trips or museums that we will all enjoy. The grandkids and I hopped in the 2014 Chevrolet Sonic 50H LT and headed towards the Arizona State Capitol Museum. Who says trips with Grandma can’t be fun and educational?
When piloting the grandkids around I like to know that we are safe. I love that the Sonic has dual stage frontal air bags, driver and right front passenger air bags, thorax side-impact seat-mounted, side-front and rear outboard seat positions. There are also air bags in the head curtain, side-front and rear outboard seating positions with rollover protection. Talk about total safety! Plus, the Sonic boasts a five-star Government safety rating.
As we make our way downtown for the Arizona State Capitol Museum the grandkids love the audio system premium sound with six speakers, blasting their favorite XM radio stations. The radio also features CD player, USB port and Bluetooth audio streaming. A little something for the kids and something for me – I love to be able to stream music from my phone hassle free!
I love the smooth ride of this Sonic! As I try to keep one step ahead of the grandkids eagerly exploring the different rooms and floors at the Arizona State Capitol, this car has no problem keeping up while we are on the road. The Sonic features a 1.8L ECOTEC, four-cylinder engine with a 5 speed manual transmission. One of the great features of this car is the hill hold feature. The system triggers high-tech brake hardware and keeps the wheels clamped for up to two seconds after drivers release the brakes – which gives you time to manipulate the clutch and gas pedal and make it up the hill. I know we don’t encounter many hills like this here in the Valley, but it’s always good to have them if you need it. The advanced safety package offers forward collision alert and lane departure warning. Better to be safe than sorry, right?
The Sonic has a 29-city mpg and 40-highway mpg, with a combined fuel economy of 33 mpg! That is a pretty fuel-efficient compact car, if you ask me.
The 2014 Sonic 50H LT starts off at $16,380, with the version that I drove coming in at $20,405. But having the ability to spend a great afternoon with my grandchildren? Absolutely priceless.
