Santa’s New Sleigh

It is scary on the streets these days – so many accidents on crowded roads, especially with the hustle and bustle of the holidays. Thankfully, I got to drive the 2017 Cadillac XTS Premium Luxury while getting my shopping done.

I have become a defensive driver lately because every time I turn on the news, there is another car accident. Luckily, the XTS can do most of the defensive work for me. The Premium Luxury comes with the Driver Awareness Package which includes forward collision alert, following distance indicator, lane keep assist, lane departure warning, front pedestrian detection and front automatic braking. This Cadillac also comes with the performance suspension, traction control and rear vision camera. So basically, this vehicle has everything I need to safely drive around town. I feel like I could even dodge Santa and his reindeer if they sped by in their sleigh.

Even though the 2017 Cadillac XTS has all of these safety features, I was still worried about the drivers around me – I was concerned they would be distracted by the beauty of the XTS. The model I test drove was a crystal white and included 20” aluminum wheels with sterling silver painted finish. With bright, brushed-aluminum roof rails which we used to bring home the perfect Christmas tree, the exterior of the XTS is just as impressive as its safety features. Some additional exterior gems are the capless fueling system, deep-tinted glass, illuminated door handles, rear spoiler, side-mounted turn signal indicator lamps and the double-sized UltraView power glass sunroof. Don’t need to ask Santa for much more when you have these qualities on your vehicle.

Although I couldn’t ask for much more, my 5-year-old son made quite a list for Santa this year. Like I said, I was lucky to have the Cadillac to do my shopping. I felt like I could drive the XTS all night, just like the real Santa, because of how comfortable the interior is. The driver and front passenger leather bucket seats come ventilated and heated. The steering wheel is even heated – with 70-degree weather in December, I did not really need this feature, but it would be quite useful in the North Pole. I also enjoyed the Bose 14-speaker Studio Surround Sound System listening to my Christmas music through the 3-month trial Sirius XM. The 3.6L V6 engine with Direct Injection and Variable Valve Timing got me from store to store; getting 18mpg city/26mpg highway, I did not have to stop often to fill up.

The 2017 Cadillac XTS made shopping so easy. I used the Cadillac CUE information and Media Control System with embedded navigation to find my way from one toy store to another, and getting in and out of the car was made easy with the Memory Package – preset for the power driver’s seat, outside mirrors and power tilt and telescoping steering column. It was also so easy to get the gifts in the car with the power liftgate, keyless access and adaptive remote start. I could also keep the gifts hidden in between stops in the cargo management system with adjustable fence and rear cargo shade. My shopping went well into the night, so it was great to have the LED headlamps, lighting accent along console and doors and front park and corning with IntelliBeam. Santa’s (and a mother’s) job never stops.

With a subscription to OnStar and an MSRP of $51,895, the 2017 Cadillac XTS Premium Luxury is quite the gift – especially to the road where it will keep other cars safe around it.
