Hyundai Tucson and Santa

I think it’s pretty cool that Hyundai happened to name one of their cars after one of my favorite cities in Arizona…Tucson, (two-sawn) not (tuck-son) for all you nor’easters out there! Tucson, known as The Old Pueblo, retains such beauty and old world charm, along with plenty of newness to make it one of the most popular cities to live in. This is exactly how I feel about driving the 2016 Hyundai Tucson. Hyundai has been around since 1967 which isn’t exactly “old world”, but it’s a name I know and trust. Put that together with a brand new model for 2016 and what we have is a beautiful small crossover.

The vehicle is simple and easy to operate, which is something I need for my chaotic life of chauffeuring around three little girls all day. The back row is roomier than one might expect in a crossover, so girls, let those dancing’ arms swing away! The cargo space is perfect for strollers, soccer equipment or my getaway bag when I run at five in the morning. There is plenty of room for whatever your needs, pets or kids may be.

Now, on to the front row. I like to call this my little sanctuary where I actually get to keep my personal space and dream about a couple’s weekend in Tucson, Arizona. My girls are all under six so none of them can sit in the front row passenger seat yet… thank you NHTSA (National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.) The 2016 Hyundai Tucson Limited has all of the extra fun stuff like the lovely upgraded interior trim that has an all so soft surface, leather upholstery, dual-zone automatic climate control, auto-dimming rearview mirror, six way power passenger seat, an 8-inch touchscreen, navigation system, rear parking sensors, ventilated front seats and heated rear seats. The girls especially enjoyed the panoramic sunroof. Me too! The endless amount of yelling I normally hear never seemed to make it to the front seat… or maybe it was just the eight speaker audio system drowning it out. It definitely makes you feel like you are in a world all your own.

If you are interested in the 2016 Tucson, I would definitely consider upgrading to the Limited edition. Not only do all the favorable upgrades come with this model, but the engine provides additional get up and go. Although the base model does start at a very decent price ($22,700), for a little bit more, I would recommend the Limited model.

I really love this next feature so much! The Blue Link telematics suite is standard on the Limited but unavailable on the other models. It includes emergency safety assistance and other smartphone-based features via the Blue Link mobile app. If you upgrade to the Remote package, you also get stolen vehicle recovery, a car finder and electronic parameter settings (geo-fencing, speed/curfew alerts and valet alert), and remote ignition and accessory operation via a smartphone or even smart watch (Edmunds.com). With technology becoming more of a priority to younger drivers and owners this Tucson should be on yours or their shopping list.

american-girl-doll-kitSpeaking of shopping lists, I was handed two letters to Santa on Thursday by Sofia and Gabby along with a request for stamps. The lists were short but the wishes were over “this” Santa’s budget. When I commented on Santa’s limited budget for two American Girl dolls and available space in his sleigh, Gabby suggested “he” borrow the Tucson to get their gifts and their friend’s gifts by “hooking” the Hyundai crossover to his sleigh; really Gabby?

The 2016 Hyundai Tucson is an old soul with a sleek, new look. It is the perfect size crossover for a family of four or less… five without car seats! The Limited boasts all sorts of bells and whistles and it’s the perfect crossover to drive to Tucson, Arizona for a weekend or possibly lend to Santa.
